Present

Where are we now?

Probably where we deserve to be, given all the good and bad choices we've made along the way, but we have no regrets. Hell no! So let's stop right here, right now for a second and take a look at some down-to-earth facts.

Awards + recognitions

"These are the tastiest freeze-dried meals currently available on the market"

...with these words, the OutDoor Industry Award jury presented us with the Gold award in 2013. At the time, this internationally acclaimed award was the highest recognition an outdoor brand could get, and we were the first food company to ever receive it. Since then, we have been a leader in outdoor nutrition, winning other awards and accolades.

Ambassadors

Top restaurants often highlight the VIPs they've hosted.

Well, we can say that every day we serve our food to people who literally make the history of mountaineering, exploration, sailing... Over the years, thanks to the exceptional taste of our meals and our unique approach to brand communication, we have managed to build an unprecedented team of ambassadors.

Our Ambassadors

Around the world

Our food is served in the most remote corners of the globe all year round.

During the toughest climbs, epic land and water expeditions, ultramarathons and treks through the wilderness. We are proud that it is not uncommon for different teams to meet at base camp at the foot of some eight-thousander in the Himalayas or a rocky face in Patagonia, only to discover they are all "sitting" at our table.

Markets we serve

Because we grew up as a brand closely associated with outdoor sports, this lifestyle will always be embedded in our DNA.

The EXPEDITION MENU we are most famous for is now sold in 30 countries, including the entire European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Chile and several others. But that’s not all – our food makes excellent emergency provisions, field meals, bail-out 24h rations and healthy takeout meals, as well as inspiration for culinary experiments. We continually improve our products, and when we see compelling reasons, we create new ones.

Production plant

Remember the chicken coop? That’s where it all started, and from there we have managed to serve the whole world for many years, no sweat!

We have been growing slowly and organically, but we have already used that space to its fullest potential. Finally, it was time to make a decision. We are currently in the process of moving to a new production facility with enough space for further growth. But just as with the chicken coop 30 years ago, we were not like “hip hip hooray, let’s build a monstrous fucking factory!” We took over what was already there - a former fruit and vegetable processing plant in our neighborhood. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

Team

Our team has been growing with the company, slowly but surely, without upsetting the balance necessary for the efficiency of our business.

Yes, we now have an open space with good Italian coffee, morning yoga and other fancy things that you can read about on many other similar sites. So it may come as a surprise that at LYO there are still more people operating freeze-dryers and packaging lines, cooking food or running lab tests than doing social media and online marketing. We also don't hire a communications agency to write PR texts and curate the right photos. Like our food, everything you can read and see about our brand is created here and by us.
