The Race 2000/2001

The Race was a sail regatta around the world. The competition started in Barcelona on December 31st, 2000. This event - organized by Bruno Peyron – was the first of its kind, having no stops, no rules and no limits.

The following objectives were defined for the race:

• to unite the different maritime cultures of the world
• to bring together the world's premiere yachtsmen and women in a common event
• to promote creativity in ocean sailing
• to ally high technology and the environment
• to create the most spectacular and most prestigious fleet of offshore racers that sailing has ever seen 

Six out of the seven registered teams began the race. Only five passed the finish line. The Warta Polpharma catamaran with its skipper Roman Paszke finished on fourth place after having sailed for 99 days, 12 hours and 31 minutes.

During these 100 days on sea the team of Warta Polpharma was using freeze-dried meals prepared by LYOFOOD.
