In deep sorrow...

Ueli Steck was a rock climber and mountaineer from Switzerland. Carpenter from profession, he climbed the Eiger North Face for the first time with 18 years old. He made new speed records in the North Face Trilogy, climbing Grandes Jorasses in 2 hours 21 minutes, Matterhorn in 1 hour 56 minutes and Eiger in 2 hours and 47 minutes.

Also known as the “Swiss Machine”, Ueli climbed Everest in 2012 and he managed to climb solo the south face of Annapurna one year later.

He received two times the Piolet d’Or in 2009 and 2014, the prestigious award given annually to the most impressive ascents.
In 2008 Ueli received the Eiger Award for his mountaineering achievements.
In 2015 he made the Alps traverse of the 82 summits.

On 30. April 2017 we learned about Ueli Steck death. He was deadly injured while trying to climb the Mount Everest and the Lhotse.
