Why should I choose LYO products instead of other freeze-dried meals offered on the market?
Compared to other freeze-dried meals offered on the market, LYO EXPEDITION meals are prepared according to a unique technology which allows to keep the original and exceptional taste. In the beginning all meal ingredients are cooked together to get the taste of the meal. Afterwards all ingredients are freeze-dried – not only the meat. Most competitors add many ingredients to the meal after the freeze-drying process which results in the lack of consistent taste. LYO EXPEDITION meals taste as if they were just prepared and have a incomparably higher calorie content.
What is freeze-drying and what does LYOphilization mean?
In the first step of the freeze-drying process the product is frozen. Then the surrounding pressure is reduced resulting in a vacuum. The frozen water content sublimes directly from the solid phase to the gas phase. This procedure is also known as LYOphilisation. The whole process takes 16 to 24 hours depending on the size of the product. Through dehydration the meal looses over 90% of its original weight. The moisture content is reduced to 2% which inhibits the action of microorganisms and enzymes. In a hermetic sealed packaging the product can be stored at room temperature without refrigeration for many years.
What are the major advantages of freeze-dried meals?

• LONG SHELF LIFE

Thanks to the hermetic sealed packaging water and oxygen are prevented from entering the meal. Additionally an oxygen absorber is put in each package (this absorber is not harmful to your health, nevertheless it should be removed before the consumption of the meal).
• SIMPLE PREPERATION
When sublimation occurs during the freeze-drying process air gaps are generated in the product. Adding water makes the meal ready to eat within very few minutes.
